Charity work day

Charity Work Day has come and gone, and I have the blisters to prove it. Although some may love missing Saturday classes for the opportunity to raise money for charity – unless their name rhymes with ‘Morth’ -- there is always the possibility of being sold to someone who is looking for a labourer to move two-ton sections of jagged machinery parts or to remove ten hectares of blackberry brambles with scissors. Not that that really happens, yet every year there are a few good stories; for example, 5 years’ worth of goat muck in a 5 by 10 shed – ankle-deep good times. But regardless of the job, the work is always worth it.
